The rules, kept short.

Draft for launch. Replace the [bracketed] details with your company information and have a lawyer review this before you accept customers.

Agreement

These terms are between you and [Company name] ("octokan"). By creating an account or adding the widget to your app you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you use octokan for an organization, you confirm you can bind it.

The service

octokan lets you add a chat widget to your apps and read and answer messages in an inbox. We may improve, change or retire features, and will give notice of material changes.

Your responsibilities

  • Keep your sign-in details and your identity secret private, and tell us if you think they were exposed.
  • You are responsible for the content of your replies and for having a lawful basis to chat with the people who use your app, including any privacy notice they need to see.
  • Do not use octokan to send spam, malware or unlawful, abusive or deceptive content, to probe or disrupt the service, or to collect data you have no right to.

Your data

You own your conversations and account data. You give us permission to process it only to run the service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can export or delete it at any time from Settings.

Plans and billing

Every account starts with a 7-day free trial, with no card. When the trial ends the service stops working until you choose a paid plan. Paid plans (Indie and Pro, monthly or yearly) are billed in advance by our payment provider, can be cancelled at any time, and stay active until the end of the period you paid for. A founding price stays the same for as long as the subscription stays active. Plan limits (apps, new conversations a month and AI usage) are shown in the dashboard. [Refund terms: replace as appropriate.]

Availability and warranty

We work hard to keep octokan running, but it is provided "as is" without a promise that it will always be available or error free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Ending this agreement

You can stop using octokan and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken or the service is abused, and will tell you why where we can.
